A prose poem is a poem which is written in prose form. It is densely compact and the rhythmic but there is no systematic line breaks as in verse poem. But it does not mean that it has lost all the poetic elements.
In a prose poem we can find the elements of verse poetry as figures of speech, rhyme, alliteration, assonance, consonance, simile, metaphor, effective rhythms, and powerful images. Some lines in prose poem are very long while some are very short consisting of even a single word. “The Little Girl Saw Her First Troop Parade” is an example of a prose poem.
